Martins Hi-Fi welcomed Arcam's Stuart Hoad to show off and demonstrate the new Radia Range with us in-store today. We went through the components and explored their features and performance. Thank you to the customers who made it in to have a listen.
We may be best known for High-End Audio, but we still get excited when Arcam brings out a new range. It empowers us to offer our customers a system that offers exceptional value for money. Radia has not disappointed us. A stand-alone CDplayer the CD5 at £699.00, the ST5 NetworkStreamer at £749.00, and a choice of 3 amplifiers, A5 at £699.00, A15 at £1099.00 and the A25 at £1499.00 to power your chosen loudspeakers make up the Radia Range.
We tried the system with a few different cables and interconnects. Radia worked well with everything we tried - I liked the extra scale with the Chord Signature interconnects, although Epic X did not sound out of place. The Entreq Hexa was a really good match too. My impressions are that the Radia sound is very well balanced, with even the entry-level A5 amplifier making a great sound, getting bigger in scale as the amplifier power increases. Partnering the system with Spendor A4 loudspeakers, we were able to play all types of music and were left feeling satisfied that we were listening to a system that was musically engaging. A brilliant achievement from Arcam.
Another really interesting touch is the ability of the amp to output Bluetooth to our Mark Levinson Headphones from the amplifiers. A brilliant feature for those who need to use headphones, but do not want to be tethered. Very impressed with the D/A converter in the amp. Using our Innuos Zen Mini into the Coax input worked really well. So first impressions: Excellent performance and value for the money. Radia has pushed the sonic boundaries at this price by some margin.
