CEDIA and your project

CEDIA and Your Project

Here's something worth knowing before you invite anyone into your home to design and install a cinema system: not all installers are the same, and the gap between a good one and a bad one is enormous.

CEDIA is the trade body that sets the professional standard for custom installation. Getting accredited isn't a box-ticking exercise — it requires real technical competence, ongoing training, and a commitment to doing things properly. Martins Hi-Fi are fully CEDIA-accredited, and our engineers hold individual CEDIA certifications. It matters to us, and it should matter to you.

What does it actually mean for your project? It means your system gets designed before anyone picks up a drill. It means the cabling, the speaker placement, the acoustic treatment — all of it is planned and executed to a professional standard, not worked out on the day. It means when we hand the system over to you, it works the way it should, and when you call us two years later because something's changed, we'll know exactly what we installed and why.

There's no shortage of people in Norfolk and Suffolk who'll fit a screen and a soundbar and call it a home cinema. What's harder to find is a team who'll design a system that's right for your room, your home, and the way your family actually lives — and then install it to a standard that holds up. That's what CEDIA accreditation is really about, and it's what we've been doing across East Anglia since 1968.

The best way to see what that standard looks like in practice is to visit The Snug — our home cinema demonstration room in Norwich — or to browse our design and installation services page for more on how we manage a project from start to finish.

If you're planning a home cinema or smart home installation in Norfolk or Suffolk and you'd like to talk it through, we're always happy to start the conversation.
