When our client approached us with plans for a dedicated home cinema, they had a clear vision in mind. They wanted to transform an existing room into a truly immersive cinematic space where they could enjoy everything from the latest blockbusters to classic films with perfect audio and visual quality.
"What makes this project particularly exciting is how we're adapting the existing room to create optimal viewing conditions," explains our cinema design specialist. "By creating a baffle wall design, filling in dormer windows, and establishing a dedicated lobby area for equipment, we're transforming a standard room into something extraordinary."
The project began with detailed consultations and demonstrations in our showroom cinema rooms, giving the client first-hand experience of different technologies and configurations. This hands-on approach allowed them to make informed decisions about their investment and understand the possibilities for their space.
After careful consideration, the client selected our premium option featuring PMC speakers in a complete Dolby Atmos 7.2.4 configuration – using a total of 11 precision-engineered speakers strategically positioned throughout the room. This sophisticated arrangement creates a three-dimensional sound bubble that places viewers at the center of the action.
The visual component centers around a JVC DLA-NZ8BE 4K laser projector, delivering exceptional clarity, color accuracy, and contrast to the acoustically transparent Screen Innovation 110" fixed frame screen. Behind this screen, the front left, center, and right PMC C165 loudspeakers are positioned for optimal sound integration.
What makes this cinema truly special is the attention to acoustic detail. The speakers are positioned behind acoustically transparent wall and ceiling treatments that both enhance the room's sound quality and create a visually clean, professional aesthetic. Acoustic wall treatments help with diffusion and absorption, while a stretched fabric ceiling accommodates the height channel loudspeakers.
"Creating the perfect acoustic environment is just as important as selecting the right equipment," notes our acoustic design expert. "Every surface in a dedicated cinema contributes to the overall sound experience, which is why we've incorporated specialized treatments throughout the room."
All supporting equipment is housed in a custom AV cabinet in the newly created lobby area, keeping the cinema space clean and focused on the viewing experience. The system is powered by an Anthem AVM70 processor paired with Anthem MCA325 gen2 power amplifiers, delivering exceptional audio processing and power for the complete speaker array.
For content, the system integrates both a Sony 4K Blu-ray player and Apple TV, providing access to everything from physical media to streaming services. Control is streamlined through a Control4 all-in-one remote, making operation intuitive even for guests unfamiliar with the system.
Intelligent Rako lighting completes the experience, with programmable scenes that adjust automatically when a film begins. The system includes LED tape lighting for subtle ambient illumination during movies, creating the perfect atmosphere for any viewing session.
"What we're creating here goes beyond just equipment – it's about engineering a complete sensory experience," explains our project manager. "From the moment someone enters the room until the final credits roll, every aspect of the environment is optimized for cinematic enjoyment."
Our in-house team will manage the entire project from design through installation, providing detailed drawings for the client's builder and coordinating with other trades to ensure seamless integration. At completion, we'll conduct a thorough calibration of all audio and video components, ensuring every element performs at its absolute best.
The finished cinema will provide the client with everything they wanted – a dedicated space for enjoying films exactly as the directors intended, with exceptional audio clarity, stunning visual quality, and intuitive operation that makes movie nights effortless.
