The next step in your Connected Home from Martins
Smart Home, what does it mean to you? And is your network up to what you both need it to do, and what you will expect it to do.
With so many DIY Smart Home devices available its hard to keep control over an ever-growing army of apps. At Martins HiFi we use Control4 on most of our Smart Home or Home Theatre installations.
We anticipate each customer to be in one of three Smart Home categories.
1. The Connected Home
Most people’s homes will fall into this category. The Connected Home has a basic flat network, but may still have many devices connected to the network. The Connected Home will have a router, unmanaged switches, wireless access points (waps) and even power distribution units. The devices connected are often a mix of smart phones and tablets, games console, tv’s and also streaming or subscription TV services.
2. The Advanced Connected Home
As many people’s expectations grow, often with family size, the need for reliability and performance increase. Often a user who is an early adopter of technology or with multiple DIY smart devices will increasingly find themselves in this category. However, often they find themselves reliant on networks which are using more bandwidth, maintaining systems such as cameras, and speeds for streaming or web surfing can suffer. Additional items on top of the Connected Home requirements are often, speakers, security cameras, additional music streaming devices and home automation devices shades, garage doors etc.
3. The Managed Connected Home
The Managed Connected Home leverages management tools to proactively monitor and manage the network. The Managed Connected Home is a new category, driven by systems such as Pakedge and Bakpak. These systems are whole house solutions professionally installed, setup and monitored. Giving greater speeds, better security and remote response, and solution to technical troubles. These systems allow whole home control, cameras, keypad, remote entry detection, shade and lighting automation, multiple music streaming devices, full home theater systems and much more.
To understand how we design your bespoke home, firstly we need to understand your requirements. Lifestyle products often are designed for today, with equipment such as Control4 we are able to build in your future requirements.
Pakedge from Control 4
Pakedge is a dependable and high-performance solution. Pakedge Connect+ is an innovative next-generation network platform comprised of wired and wireless networking products that are integrated with advanced software and connected to the cloud. Connect+ incorporates proprietary artificial intelligence-based algorithms to detect, diagnose, self-repair and resolve network problems.
Pakedge virtualisation technologies enable network devices, whether within a single network or across multiple networks, to be uniquely grouped and managed in new ways. Pakedge advanced software, such as Pakedge Zones, creates new networking capabilities for prioritizing network use for audio, video, communication, security, bulk-data and management applications. The cloud-based management technology, BakPak, enables remote management and maintenance.
The Pakedge platform-architecture approach enables scalable and tightly defined integration with third-party devices from many manufacturers, similar to how Control4’s architecture enables third-party products to integrate with its platform.
Simply put the advantages for your home can be in these categories.
• Purpose built, and bespoke install for your unique needs
• High performance
• Scalable so you can add to this system when you need to.
• Intelligent monitoring of your system is built in
Ultimately a Smart Home is only as smart as the network. Every smart device in your Connected Home is designed to communicate across and the network of smart devices, but accessible through one single interface removing the need for multiple apps, and in some cases multiple devices managing different elements of your home.
Martins also try to answer the question of support, what do you do if something goes wrong. We integrate these solutions into your own system giving you the backup and peace of mind to not worry if something isn’t working.
In the next blog, we will cover BAKPAK the simple solution to managing your home from behind the screen.
